DOT Consortium & TPA Services in Miami, FL
Miami's PortMiami is the largest container port in Florida and the world's busiest cruise port, which together keep trucks moving between the port, the airport, and warehouses across South Florida. Carriers serving this area need a DOT Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse program that keeps up with port schedules and perishable freight.
What is a DOT consortium / C/TPA?
A DOT consortium combines many employers into one random testing pool, so each can meet 49 CFR Part 382 without running its own program. As your Consortium/Third-Party Administrator, we handle random selection and notification, collections, Clearinghouse queries, MRO coordination, and recordkeeping.
Why it matters in Miami
The port sits on Dodge Island in Biscayne Bay and is reached by truck through the Port of Miami Tunnel, which connects it to Interstate 395 and the rest of the interstate system. Its container business serves trade with Latin America and the Caribbean, and its cruise business generates its own trucking for supplies. Carriers serving the port include drayage companies, produce and refrigerated haulers, and local distribution fleets, many of them small. A consortium lets those operators keep a compliant testing program without a dedicated safety staff.
Pricing
Consortium enrollment is priced by fleet size: $99 for 1 driver, $199 for 2-5 drivers, $349 for 6-15 drivers, $499 for 16-25 drivers, and $749 for 26-50 drivers. Fleets above 50 drivers receive a custom quote.
Get Me CompliantFrequently asked questions
Does a refrigerated or perishable load change our testing obligations?
No. Testing is determined by whether the driver operates a vehicle that requires a CDL, not by the cargo. Perishable loads simply make planning around a random selection more important.
We serve both PortMiami and the airport. Do we need separate programs?
No. One DOT program and one random pool cover all of your CDL drivers, wherever they are working on a given day.
How do we handle a driver who needs to leave in the middle of a shift for a test?
The driver must report promptly after being notified. Tell us how your dispatch works and we will review collection options with you so selections are planned around, not improvised.
What is a limited Clearinghouse query?
It's the annual check you run for each CDL driver, which tells you whether a violation record exists without showing the details. If one appears, you need a full query with the driver's consent to see the specifics.
