Testing volume
DOT urine tests are federally required for employees in safety-sensitive roles — truck drivers, fleet operators, heavy equipment operators. If your company operates commercial vehicles over 26,000 lbs, these employees are likely DOT-covered.
Non-DOT tests are for employees not covered by federal transportation rules but where your company still has a drug-free workplace policy. Common for warehouse staff, office employees, and general labor.
A breath alcohol test is administered by a certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) using a federally approved device. Required for DOT-covered employees under random and post-accident testing rules.
Saliva testing detects very recent drug use — typically within the last 24 to 48 hours. A good option for reasonable suspicion or post-accident situations. Note: not yet approved for federally mandated DOT programs but fully valid for Non-DOT company policies.
MRO stands for Medical Review Officer. Think of the MRO as the safety net between a lab result and your HR team. Before a positive result ever reaches you, a licensed physician reviews it to make sure it is legitimate — ruling out prescription medications or lab errors. Without MRO review, you could act on a false positive and expose your company to a lawsuit.
Under 49 CFR Part 40, MRO review is mandatory for all DOT-regulated drug tests. For Non-DOT programs, it is strongly recommended as a legal safeguard and best practice under SAMHSA guidelines.
You do not have to select MRO for every test. For example, DOT tests require it by law. Non-DOT tests may not. Enter only the number that need MRO review.
Observed collection means a certified collector is physically present in the room during the specimen collection. Most standard drug tests are Non-Observed — the collector waits outside. Observed collection is more invasive but much harder to cheat.
Under 49 CFR Part 40, observed collection is mandatory for return-to-duty tests, all SAP-ordered follow-up tests, and any instance where specimen tampering is suspected. It is NOT required for standard random or pre-employment DOT tests.
Observed collection applies only to specific test types. Enter only the number of tests that require it — not your full headcount.
Why On-Site Testing Can Save More Than It Costs
The real cost of employee drug testing is not only the test price. For many employers, the bigger cost is lost work time.
10 employees sent to a clinic = about 15 labor hours lost
10 employees tested on-site = about 1.7 labor hours total
Potential time saved: about 13+ labor hours
Less travel. Less waiting. Less downtime.
Example only. Actual time savings may vary based on employee count, collection type, site setup, travel distance, and scheduling.
For larger teams, the savings can be even more significant. On-site testing helps reduce travel time, waiting-room delays, mileage, scheduling gaps, and supervisor coordination time. Compare on-site vs clinic testing.
Estimate the cost of bringing employee drug and alcohol testing to your workplace, job site, warehouse, terminal, or office. OnSite Employer Testing helps employers coordinate DOT and Non-DOT collections without sending employees across town to a clinic.

Is the calculator estimate a final quote?
No. The calculator provides a rough estimate for planning purposes only. It is not a binding quote, contract, or final price. Final pricing may be lower or higher after review.
Why can the final price change?
Final pricing may change based on location, travel distance, number of employees, test type, DOT or Non-DOT requirements, MRO review, observed collection needs, urgent or after-hours dispatch, collector availability, and site-specific requirements.
Can drug testing be done at our workplace?
Yes. OnSite Employer Testing coordinates mobile and on-site drug and alcohol collections at employer locations, job sites, warehouses, offices, and other approved collection settings.
Is on-site drug testing better than sending employees to a clinic?
For many employers, yes. On-site testing can reduce travel time, waiting-room delays, missed work hours, and scheduling disruption.
How long does on-site employee drug testing take?
Most standard collections only take a few minutes per employee once the collector is set up. The total time depends on the number of employees, test type, paperwork, and program requirements.
Can you support DOT and Non-DOT testing?
Yes. OnSite Employer Testing coordinates both DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing collections. DOT programs must follow applicable federal rules and employer policy requirements.

No. The calculator collects the details needed to prepare an estimate. Pricing is reviewed and sent by email because travel, test type, volume, timing, and compliance requirements can affect the final quote.
Can you help with urgent or after-hours testing?
Urgent and after-hours testing may be available depending on location, collector availability, test type, and timing. Additional fees may apply.
