Drug Testing for Richmond and Henrico County Data Centers and Contractors

A contractor familiar with Northern Virginia may take on a Richmond-area data center job and assume the testing process carries over unchanged. A different owner, employer account, or acceptance rule can make that assumption expensive.

Onsite Employer Testing coordinates employer-directed drug and alcohol collections for data center operators, builders, and service vendors in Richmond and Henrico County. A qualified collector can come to an eligible worksite, or employees can use one of 8,500+ collection locations nationwide. We review the location, timing, test type, and program before confirming arrangements.

Choose worksite collection or a collection location

We come to you

Request collection at a suitable site office, contractor trailer, administrative room, or other approved private area. The location must support the required specimen process, privacy, identification, and chain of custody. Security access and collector availability must be confirmed.

Your employee uses the network

Applicants, remote hires, and traveling employees can use a collection location near their current location. Confirm the ordered service, hours, and any appointment requirements first. The 8,500+ figure describes the nationwide network, not locations within this city.

Reset the project instructions when the crew changes markets

Richmond and Henrico County are a distinct central Virginia data center market, not an extra neighborhood of Ashburn. This page focuses on expansion into a new project market and continuity from construction into ongoing operations.

Before a crew starts in the Richmond area, reconfirm the destination, employer account, required panel, result recipients, and access deadline. A result that was accepted at another Virginia facility is not automatically valid for this assignment.

As a project moves into commissioning and operations, the participating employers may change. General contractors can leave while facilities staff, security vendors, and equipment-maintenance companies remain. Update the roster and account permissions rather than letting a construction-era email list become the default route for ongoing employee results.

What this could look like for your team

An electrical contractor finishes a Northern Virginia phase and mobilizes workers to Henrico County. The employer can confirm whether prior results are accepted, request any necessary new collections, and establish the Richmond project reference before workers report.

This is an illustrative planning example, not a claim about a customer or completed project.

Testing requests we can help coordinate

Employers can request pre-employment or pre-access collection, policy-authorized random testing, reasonable-suspicion collection, post-incident testing, and return-to-duty or follow-up collection. Breath alcohol testing can be reviewed when authorized and available for the applicable program.

Most data center roles are non-DOT. Covered drivers or other regulated employees require the correct DOT testing process; a safety-sensitive job title alone does not make a position DOT-covered. Keep DOT and non-DOT orders separate.

A collected specimen is not an instant access clearance. Laboratory processing, confirmation, medical review, and employer or owner acceptance may still be required. For an incident, call promptly, prioritize emergency care, and follow your policy and any applicable regulatory deadlines. Testing does not replace the employer's incident investigation or establish current impairment by itself.

Before requesting Richmond service

Please provide:

  • New owner acceptance criteria and collection deadline

  • Updated employer roster for construction-to-operations handoff

  • Result permissions that exclude people no longer assigned to the project

  • Donor count, test reason, DOT status, panel or specimen, and preferred collection window

  • Existing TPA, laboratory, or MRO instructions, if applicable

Our market focus includes Richmond, Henrico County, Sandston, and nearby central Virginia project locations. Nearby communities are service-request areas, not a claim that we operate a local clinic or can guarantee dispatch at every address.

Employers remain responsible for lawful testing authorization, worker notices, privacy, policy decisions, and employment or access decisions. State cannabis protections and other employment rules may affect the program. Have counsel review the actual role and policy rather than assuming a customer requirement overrides the law.

Richmond data center testing questions

Is Richmond treated as a separate service market from Ashburn?

Yes. Give the actual central Virginia project address and requirements. This page is not a promise that Northern Virginia staffing or timing automatically applies in Richmond.

Can existing Virginia project results be reused?

Only if the receiving employer or owner accepts them. Confirm the required panel, age of result, documentation, and review process first.

Can you support the transition from construction testing to facility operations?

Yes. Update the employer accounts, authorized recipients, donor roster, and testing reasons as the workforce changes. Collection support can then be planned for the new operating model.

Plan the collection before it becomes a project delay

Tell us where your Richmond and Henrico County team is working, who employs the workers, how many people need testing, and when collection is required. We will review a worksite option, a collection-location option, or a combination suited to the request.
